LPG is an energy-rich fuel source, with more energy than a lot of the alternatives out there, which means an LPG flame burns hotter, an advantage that can translate into higher efficiency. It has a significantly higher calorific rate than other commonly used fuels, including coal, natural gas, diesel, petrol, fuel oils and biomass-derived alcohols. Everything considered it makes a good and cleaner alternative to fuel not only in the kitchen but also in vehicles, with many of them powered by the same cylinders used in the kitchen. Additionally, LPG has more than a thousand applications, and they use it for transportation, commercial business, industry, farming, domestic heating and cooking, and for recreational purposes.
LPG is a clean-burning fuel that is a low carbon, emits virtually no black carbon and does not spill. Its use improves air quality, reduces the emission of GHGs and protects the environment. Since gas is a lot more stable than fuel and can be transported easily to remote parts of the country without the worry of mishaps and it works well. With easy transportation and the delivery comes easy accessibility, especially for rural India, which is where the Government was trying to increase the number of gas connections for a long time now.
When it comes to applying for a gas connection there are a few requirements that applicants have to keep in mind, with the most significant one being a delivery system. While many domestic cooking gas companies in India are making plans about pipeline gas connections across the country, the project seems like it would take some time for proper implementation. In the interim, people who need a decent gas connection have to make sure the companies are open to delivering it to them without too much of a delay. Some domestic cooking gas companies handle a weekly delivery system where they provide enough cylinders for the entire village or town if they are far from the warehouse. Other companies work on an individual basis, providing cylinders for their clients whenever each of them need a cylinder.
Applying for a new gas connection used to be challenging in the past and took up a significant amount of time. People had to travel to the office of the company that they wanted to work with and fill out a lot of the forms and paperwork. Furthermore, applicants have to prove their address and their identity when they are getting through the application process.
Some of the relevant documents needed when applying for a gas connection are ration card, the electricity bill of the last three months, previous three months landline bill, passport, house registration or property tax papers, voter ID card, Leave and Licence agreement, drivers license, Aadhaar card, and bank passbook. Furthermore, there are a few more documents to be provided to prove identity which are PAN Card, Central or State Government Issued ID cards, Bank Passbook with Photograph. Applicants will have to submit a few or most of these documents, along with their details on the application form. They will have to attach copies of the paperwork as well.
Getting a gas connection is a lot easier today than it used to be several years back. It is also a lot safer since there are a lot of fail-safes added to make sure the people using it are safe. In the past, there were a few accidents with gas cylinders, but people can avoid those with the improvements made. Gas is always odourless, but companies add a smell to it so people can detect if there is a gas leak in the house, which is one of the fail-safes that were put in place to keep people safe.
When it comes to an LPG gas booking, whether the applicant is registering for a new connection or applying for a refill, both of these are now done remotely. People can call the company and inform them when they are out of gas, and depending on their delivery schedule, they send them a refill.
