The Department of Veterans Affairs’ (VA) has founded a National Call Center for Homeless Veterans hotline to ensure that homeless Veterans or Veterans at-risk for homelessness have free, 24/7 access to trained counselors.

Veterans can walk into HPACT clinics without an appointment and receive medical care, case management services, housing placement supports, substance use and mental health treatment, community referrals, triage services, benefits counseling and even hot showers and clean clothes.

The call center employs about 400 people. The call center is part of Veterans Health Administration Member Services, which is a separate entity from the Colmery-O’Neil VA Medical Center, which provides health care to veterans in a hospital and outpatient-care setting.
