Can you kayak to Channel Islands National Park?
The kayaking opportunities at the Channel Islands are some of the best anywhere in California. Visitors can kayak on their own or go with a park-authorised outfitter. You’ll enjoy breakfast and hopefully some whale-watching en route to Santa Cruz Island, where you’ll then hit the water in kayaks for a day of exploring.

How much does it cost to kayak the Channel Islands?
Discovery Sea Cave Kayak Tour – Ferry Time and Cost: $63/adult and $45/child. The morning tour requires a ferry departure of 9am or earlier from Ventura Harbor. The afternoon tour requires a ferry a return time from the island of 4:30pm or later.
Can you rent a kayak at Channel Islands?
Kayak rentals are available from Channel Island Kayak Center (805) 984-5995. There are no kayaks for rent at the island. You must reserve transport space with Island Packers for rental kayaks. Space is limited to 18 kayaks a day at Scorpion Anchorage by the National Park.
Can you kayak at the beach?
First and foremost kayaking is not safe in any type of water, especially the ocean, unless you wear your life jacket. The Coast Guard may only require you to have it with you in the boat, but that won’t do you any good if you get separated from your kayak.

How old do you have to be to go kayaking in the Channel Islands?
Children under 12 must be escorted by an adult that can share a tandem kayak with them. All guests must be comfortable swimming in the ocean. Tandem kayaks, mask and snorkel, fins, wetsuit+hood, paddle jackets, all safety equipment, guide. (We do not offer prescription snorkel lenses.)
