What is the purpose of primer surfacer?
Rust-Oleum® Primer Surfacer is designed to improve adhesion of the final topcoat and enhance the finish color. When brush or spray applied, this high build, rust resistant, sandable primer will hide sanding scratches and fill uneven surfaces.
Can some waterborne primer surfacers be used over bare steel?
P950-5505 Waterborne Primer-Surfacer can be applied over: Carbon steel must be primed immediately after sanding and cleaning. P950-5505 may be applied to properly prepared and cleaned bare metal.
Is primer surfacer a sealer?
they are both very similar. only real difference is a sealer type will usually have fillers and pigments that are ground finer so it will lay smoother. some tend to flash a little slower and maybe have a touch more resin in them so they flow out better.
Can Sealer be used as primer?

What may cause hard tape lines?
When areas of the vehicle are masked off to prevent paint from getting on certain surfaces, a raised tape line can result when the masking material is removed. This tape line is the result of the new layer of paint which has dried at the edge of the tape.
What is the maximum amount of clearcoat that can be removed from an OEM finish when correcting a surface defect?
The clearcoat averages 2 mils thick. Single-stage finishes are 3 to 5 mils thick. Whenever removing a defect from an original OEM finish, the general recommendation is to remove no more than one-half mil of topcoat.
Is waterborne paint waterproof?
Enhancing Water-Resistant Paint Water-resistant paints can repel some moisture, but they are not 100-percent waterproof. Since acrylic paint is not waterproof either, it also needs to be sealed to prevent moisture from seeping in.
